Planning for the Future

Project Overview

The Katahdin Region is undertaking a region-wide planning process to develop a vision for the future and create an action plan for local implementation. The region is going through a major economic and social transition, following the downturn in local paper mills and industry. The region is a destination for outdoor recreation, and has a potentially strong future in advanced wood processing industries and tourism related activities. Future iQ was contracted by the local organizations to facilitate the initial community discussions and support the formation activities of the local steering committee.

Future iQ®'s Role in this Project

  • Facilitation of initial community events, and conducting local stakeholder Interviews.
  • Exploration of comparable case study communities.
  • Review of the existing Katahdin Region plans and other strategic documents on trends and factors shaping the region.
