Last week, our Planning Specialist Marcus Grubbs, spoke with a Master’s capstone class at the Humphrey School of Public affairs in which student groups are leading scenario planning processes to help solve clients’ real world problems.
Marcus gave a presentation titled, “Participatory Scenario-Based Planning, Integrating Data & Visualization,” and fielded questions from students. The students quickly honed in on some of the questions we encounter every day: how does one work with a client to effectively scope a project; how does one balance resource and time constraints with the need to do in-depth analysis and engagement; how does one share one’s subject matter expertise without damaging one’s credibility with folks that don’t share the same understanding?
From Marcus: “I’m excited to see a new crop of planners working professionally, and I’m encouraged that every class of graduates is more and more equipped for the job.”
