Building on the recent adoption of Smithville’s Comprehensive Plan, the updated Parks and Recreation Master Plan will provide a ten-year vision for parks, recreation, open space, and trails in the City of Smithville. A key component of the new plan will be a shared process that expands on prior processes to tap the opinions and ideas of community stakeholders and includes a comprehensive inventory of assets, demographics and current planning standards. The new plan will also include research, public involvement, and the development of recommendations for all aspects of Smithville’s Parks and Recreation activities. The City of Smithville has contracted with Future iQ to facilitate the development of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan update. To deepen the team skills, we have also partnered the consultancy firms of Landworks and Jon Stover & Associates to collaborate on this project. It should be noted that within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the community stakeholder engagement for this project will be held virtually.
