Greenwood Comprehensive Master Plan Project (2024-2025)

Greenwood Comprehensive Master Plan Project (2024-2025)

Comprehensive planning for the City of Greenwood, Missouri

Project Overview

The City of Greenwood is a vibrant community of 6,123 residents located approximately 20 miles South and East of Kansas City, Missouri in Jackson County. It is said that the name of Greenwood was selected because of the beautiful elm trees in the area, and the City’s logo incorporates the tree into its branding.

The City of Greenwood has embarked on a visioning and planning project that will update the City’s 2008 Comprehensive Plan. This update will begin with the creation of a community vision for Greenwood. The community vision will set the stage and provide the foundational strategic pillars of the Comprehensive Master Plan. Public involvement and input will be critical components of the comprehensive plan update process and community members will be provided a broad range of in-person and online opportunities to engage with this project. Throughout this planning process, citizens and community partners will be asked to join with the City to identify priorities and establish a list of goals and action steps for implementation. This year-long project will result in a comprehensive plan that provides guidance for decision-making for the next 10 years.

Future iQ, in partnership with WGI and Jon Stover and Associates (JS&A) have been contracted to develop the Comprehensive Master Plan over an 12-month period. The process will result in an updated Community Vision and Comprehensive Master Plan that will guide the community’s decision-making for the next ten years.
