The City of Jasper is a vibrant community of 16,967 (2024) residents located in the southwestern corner of Indiana along the Patoka River. As the county seat of Dubois County, the City was founded in 1818, and celebrates its rich German history through events such as its annual mid-summer festival Strassenfest. Jasper is also known for its furniture industry and its abundant agricultural lands.
The City of Jasper has embarked on a comprehensive planning process that will update its 2019 Comprehensive Plan. The Plan will serve as a basis for modifications to land use and planning regulations, public and private investment decisions, prioritization for the allocation of City resources, and incorporate smart growth principles to encourage the efficient use of resources. The City anticipates the new Plan will express a progressive vision that promotes thoughtful, managed growth and development, promotes the health, safety and welfare of the community and continues to position Jasper as a regional hub of economic and social activity.
Future iQ, in partnership with WGI and Jon Stover and Associates (JS&A) have been contracted to develop the Comprehensive Plan over an 14-month period. The process will result in an updated Community Vision and Comprehensive Plan that will guide the community’s decision-making for the next ten years.
