Bonanza Park Planning Project (2023)

Bonanza Park Planning Project (2023)

Two Planning Efforts – One Approach within Park City, Utah

Project Overview

Park City, Utah is conducting two separate planning projects within the city: a Small Area Plan for Bonanza Park and a Feasibility Study for a 5-acre site within the park. Expected to take 10 months to complete, this work will result in a long-range vision for the neighbourhood that considers land use, transportation, mobility, placemaking, connectivity, and parks and open spaces.

The two plans will consider the regional dynamics in Park City, including but not limited to changes in the economic market, housing, development trends, and citywide projects. A robust engagement process will ensure that a diverse range of voices are heard throughout the planning process, with many opportunities for feedback on ideas and materials produced by the project team.

This project is led by MKSK, a collective of planners, urban designers and landscape architects.

The purpose of the two planning projects are to:

  • Craft a community-supported vision for the City-owned properties.
  • Identify best practices for community, commercial, and creative assets most valued by the Park City community of residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
  • Understand community support for a mixed-use district that may include cultural assets, public spaces, community housing, and local businesses.
  • Identify the feasibility of a redevelopment concept that has community support and is economically feasible.
